The Brazilian Innovation System: A Mission-Oriented Policy Proposal

Supported Prof. Mariana Mazzucato (UCL, then at the University of Sussex) in developing an original methodology, grounded in the mission-oriented innovation policy literature, to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the Brazilian innovation system and propose a new policy agenda. The project was commissioned by MCTI through CGEE. Responsibilities included initial methodology development, qualitative and quantitative data collection, stakeholder interviews across industry, government and academia, preliminary analysis, drafting of the report, and presentation of findings in various policy forums. The resulting report has been widely cited in both academic and policy circles.
